About

Hi, my name is Naomi Hansen. Currently I serve as a full time missionary with Shoreline Calvary Chapel North London. Shoreline London is a church plant from the State that was started by close friends of mine four years ago. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about the work that the Lord is doing in London and praying about partnering with me in this work.

My Journey Here

Ever since I served as a full time missionary in the Inner-City of New Orleans, when I was 19yrs old, I new I wanted to be a missionary for the rest of my life. However, after my year internship there the Lord clearly told me to ‘wait.’ He then led me back to California to go to university. After getting a degree in Graphic Design & Photography, God was faithful and handed me a career right out of university to pay off my loans. Thanks to getting promoted to Art Director, working crazy over time and some money from the passing of my father, I was able to pay off my loans in a relatively short amount of time. God then opened up the door for me to move to London and join the ministry here with Shoreline Calvary North London.

The journey here was filled with some incredibly hard trials, refining seasons and immense growth in the Word and walk with Christ. I was very involved with my church on the Central Coast, Shoreline Calvary Chapel Morro Bay. Through serving locally at my church and on mission trips to Kenya multiple times, Uganda and London, He’s shown me what it means to have a heart for missions… a heart for the broken and lost, and a desire to see God glorified, no matter where you are in the world or if you have the title of “missionary” or not.

Nine years after leaving full time ministry work the first time, the day I’d dreamed of finally came. The day God said ‘GO!’ So I sold everything I owned and moved to London a year ago. I absolutely LOVE what I get to do and am so honored, humbled and blessed beyond belief to get to be used by God for His glory!

Ministry in London

People here are very isolated and alone trapped on a conveyer belt of life amongst the masses of people pressing in on all sides. You don’t talk to those around you, don’t rock the boat and certainly don’t talk about Jesus. In London, Christianity is the fastest shrinking religion and Islam is the fastest growing. Christianity, for the most part, is considered dead and irrelevant. Praise the Lord that our God is bigger than any culture and is breaking through the numbness and giving individuals LIFE!

Shoreline Calvary North London

In 2010 my pastor in the States moved with his family and a small team of people to London to plant a church in the borough of Camden. This area is pretty much the drug and cult capital of London. It is a very dark area were pretty much anything and everything goes. The team preached the Gospel on the streets and taught the Word in coffee shops and houses. People got saved and started to grow in Christ. Now we have both Sunday afternoon and Wed night services, as well as Bible studies in multiple locations around the city. I am so blessed to be a part of this amazingly diverse family of brand new creations and beautiful works in progress. London is one of the most diverse cities in the world and our fellowship is a perfect representation of this.

With most of the original team gone now, it's transitioned from this being a ‘church plant’ to simply being a church body. It has been fantastic to watch as Londoner’s have begun to step up and into service roles within the body, minister to one another and reach out with hearts for the lost. One of the biggest prayer needs for our church would be for individual spiritual growth in the Word of God and for strong leaders to be raised up.

My Role in the Ministry

Pretty much I am here open and available for whatever the Lord has. If I could sum up what I do it would be simply investing in peoples lives. These are a few of the specific areas though God has me serving in currently.

West End Bible Study

Having been a dancer in the past I really have a heart for those in the performance industry. It really is a very dark place and extremely hard to be a Christian with any kind of standards in it. In the arts world you are supposed to tolerate any and all sorts of depravity yet don’t you dare say anything about Jesus. Lord opened up the door for us to start a Bible study with a number of the performers on the West End. At the beginning when I was walking and praying over the theatres the Lord gave me a vision of sparks being ignited in each theatre. That is exactly what we are seeing happen. There are people in Lion King, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Book of Mormon, Body Guard and some smaller shows that are really lighting on fire for Jesus. Especially those in Lion King and Charlie have become so bold for Jesus in their companies and seeing people get saved back stage. Working with these dancers and performers has really become such a huge part of my heart.

Discipleship

Raising up disciples to be disciple makers is my biggest heart in ministry. There is nothing quite like getting into the Word one on one with ladies, watching it transform their lives and living life alongside of them. Then seeing them turn around and do the same with others. Currently there are a few ladies that I’m discipling. I also spend a lot of my time just pursuing and investing in ladies one on one.

Uturn Rehab

On Thursday mornings I join Pastor Antonye for a Bible study that we do at a men’s rehab house. Meeting with these guys feels like it must have been sitting down with the 12 disciples. They are such a rag tag group of guys from all different backgrounds that are falling in love with Jesus and bit by bit their lives being transformed. When I look at some of these guys I really see potential world changers. Recently there has been a lot of turmoil there with a guy who died, conflict amongst staff and a couple of guys that left. It is always so heartbreaking when you see them give up. However, they know the truth and God never stops pursuing them.

Various Other Ministries

There are numerous other areas that I help out with at the church, from Bible studies to whatever odds and ends need to be done. It is such a blessing too to be able to use the skills I have in graphic design and photography to serve the Lord. I handle any design work that needs to be done as well as manage our website and Facebook page. I’m also involved in doing street evangelism. A lot of the time we are sharing with hard core atheists, Muslims, drug deals and every other kind of interesting background you can imagine. Such people are also who a lot of people in our fellowship used to be. God is so amazing and no one is beyond His reach!
